The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) takes effect on May 25, 2018. The GDPR is a standardized user data protection framework that operates across Europe and sets up obligations for organizations like Sniply on how to handle the personal data of people in the European Economic Area.
Sniply is compliant with the GDPR. The following FAQs help explain what the GDPR is and provide further details.
What is the GDPR?
The GDPR is a new European data protection law that sets out various requirements that will become effective on May 25, 2018. It replaces the existing data protection regime for the EU under Directive 95/46/EC and is intended to harmonize data protection laws throughout the EU by applying a single data protection law that is binding throughout all Member States.
How does the GDPR apply to Sniply?
Sniply is a link creation tool that enables users around the world to generate customized links, enabling additional analytics, call-to-actions, and customizations. For more information on the types and categories of data we collect and process, please see our Privacy Policy.
Does this affect me if I don't live in Europe?
While the GDPR applies only to individuals in Europe, Sniply applies our Privacy Policy universally to users in all countries to the extent permissible by law. We believe that everyone should have the same guarantees about their data and its privacy.
How does Sniply protect my data and the data of people who click on my Sniply Links?
We explain in depth in our Privacy Policy what data we collect and for what purpose. When you sign up for a Sniply account, we ask for personal data that's necessary to offer you the services you signed up for.
For people who click on Sniply links, we only collect the data necessary to provide the service. We anonymize all IP addresses from visitors not logged into an account and make efforts to ensure we do not capture other personal data. Please note that certain Sniply features (Form CTAs, Retargeting Pixels) enable you to potentially collect additional customer data via your Sniply call-to-action. You are responsible for ensuring that you have adequate consent given your situation.
Where is Sniply based?
Sniply was a Canadian company based in Vancouver, British Columbia.
In 2019 Sniply was acquired by saas.group and is now on a growth path! The majority of our remote team is now based in Central Europe, and the entity behind Sniply is registered in the U.S.A.
We take our users` data very seriously, therefore, GDPR is more of an evolution than a revolution for Sniply.
