The next level of snipping!
There are three possible scenarios you can follow to enable your domain to have its own snipped links:

⚠️ Note: If you are using Pro or Business plan, make sure you're in the correct workspace. If you need to change your workspace, click on the User/Workspace section in the lower-left corner of your Sniply Dashboard and select the correct workspace that will be offered in a new window.

1) New domain that you allow Sniply to manage
This guide will teach you how to create Snips using your domain.
Example:
snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc
__________________________________________________________________
On Sniply:
- On your Dashboard, access Customization
- Click on the Custom Domains tab
- Click the button "+ Create New Custom Domain"
- Enter your domain URL
- Click Next
- When prompted who should connect the domain to Sniply, select "Managed by Sniply".
On the next screen, you will be given DNS server values, with which you should replace your current DNS server values on your domain manager. -
Enter your main website as a redirection URL. This will be a website that will load when a user requests a link on your custom domain that does not exist. This step is optional, but it's useful to have it. If you're skipping the Redirect URL, you can click the "Finish without Redirect URL" button.
- Click Save.

On your domain manager:
Login to your domain manager (or buy a new domain) and set up your nameservers:
a) Buy a domain (if you already have one, you can skip to step 2). GoDaddy, Namecheap, 1&1, and Name.com are all popular options.
b) Redirect your nameservers to the displayed Sniply nameservers.
➡️ The nameservers generated were shown in the last image above.
Here are instructions for setting up/updating your nameservers for GoDaddy, 1&1, Namecheap, 1&1, Google Domains, and Porkbun. Questions? Simply contact us!
✅ Done!
You can now create snips using your domain (snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc)

2) Using a New Domain managed by you
When you have a new domain, but you would like to manage it yourself, you will need to use Cloudflare and activate Proxy on it. Switching to Cloudflare and using the SSL proxy that Cloudflare offers will make HTTPS available for your domain.
Setting this one up involves the following steps on the Cloudflare portal, then steps on the Sniply Dashboard.
__________________________________________________________________
On Cloudflare:
Step 1: Open an account with Cloudflare, or use an existing one if you already have it.
Step 2: Add your domain to Cloudflare's DNS management and point it to our IP 174.138.108.60.
In the example below, we have added testing.link to Cloudflare DNS and pointed it to the said IPv4.
__________________________________________________________________
On Sniply:
- On your Dashboard, access Customization
- Click on the Custom Domains tab
- Click the button "+ Create New Custom Domain"
- Enter your domain URL
- Click Next
- When prompted who should connect the domain to Sniply, select "Self-Managed".
On the next screen, you will be given the CNAME record value. You should create it on your domain manager and copy the target value given. -
Enter your main website as a redirection URL. This will be a website that will load when a user requests a link on your custom domain that does not exist. This step is optional, but it's useful to have it. If you're skipping the Redirect URL, you can click the "Finish without Redirect URL" button.
- Click Save.
✅ Done!
You can now create snips using your own domain (snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc)
__________________________________________________________________
3) Subdomain on your domain
If you would rather not buy a new domain, you can also use your existing domain, but you will need to create a subdomain.
For example, if your website is mysite.com, you can use Sniply with a domain like go.mysite.com.
Sniply links will look like go.mysite.com/abcd.
__________________________________________________________________
On Sniply:
- On your Dashboard, access Customization
- Click on the Custom Domains tab
- Click the button "+ Create New Custom Domain"
- Enter your subdomain URL
- Click Next
On the next screen, you will be given the CNAME record value. You should create it on your domain manager and copy the target value given. -
Enter your main website as a redirection URL. This will be a website that will load when a user requests a link on your custom subdomain that does not exist. This step is optional, but it's useful to have it. If you're skipping the Redirect URL, you can click the "Finish without Redirect URL" button.
-
Click Save.

On domain manager:
Step 1: Set up a subdomain by adding a CNAME record for the subdomain that you would like to use (like "go", "sharedby", "link", or anything else you might need/like) that points to lb-production.sniply.site.
It is worth mentioning that it needs to be a CNAME record, not an A record.
It should look something like this:
subdomain.yourdomain.com ⇾ lb-production.sniply.site
This is what the setup should look like if you are using Cloudflare, where we have the subdomain go.snip.ly pointing to lb-production.sniply.site.
Your hosting provider's DNS panel might look somewhat different, from the above example. So, check if you need to enter just the subdomain name or the full subdomain URL (in the spirit of the examples we used, it's go vs. go.snip.ly, or subdomain vs. subdomain.yourdomain.com).
Here are the instructions for GoDaddy, Namecheap, 1&1, or simply contact us.
Step 2: Confirm using a website check tool, such as this one, that the CNAME record for your particular subdomain points to lb-production.sniply.site.
🟥 IMPORTANT: If you're setting up only a subdomain to use with Sniply, you DO NOT have to change your DNS servers to Sniply's (alex and lily). You just need to create a CNAME record and point it to our lb-production.sniply.site server.

🔐 HTTPS Support on (sub)domains
HTTPS (secured browsing) for your custom (sub)domain will be enabled automatically. If this process does not happen automatically for you, even after 1 hour, please email us.

✅ Done!
You can now create snips using your own domain, e.g., snip.ly/abc ⇾ go.mysite.co/abc.
