The next level of snipping!
There are three possible scenarios you can follow in order to enable your domain to have its own snipped links:
- New domain that you allow Sniply to manage
- New domain that you want to manage yourself
- Subdomain of an existing domain
All three scenarios above rely on the Steps 1-4 outlined below, so the Steps 1-4 should be completed no matter what scenario you decide on.
__________________________________________________________________
Step 1: Go to the Brands section in your Sniply Dashboard
__________________________________________________________________
Step 2: Click on the Brand you wish to connect your domain to
__________________________________________________________________
Step 3: Find the Custom Domain tab and click on the Gear Icon
__________________________________________________________________
Step 4: In the first field type in your new (sub)domain name (or your custom short domain URL) and in the second, as the redirect URL, your main website URL, then hit the Connect button.
__________________________________________________________________
Once you've completed the first 4 steps, you can continue with the steps specific to your chosen domain management type.
- New domain that you allow Sniply to manage
- New domain that you want to manage yourself
- Subdomain of an existing domain

1. Using a New Domain managed by Sniply
This guide will teach you how to snip using your own domain
(snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc)
If you have completed the first 4 steps, please continue. If not, please complete the above 4 steps first, then continue.

Login to your domain manager (or buy a new domain) and set up your nameservers
a) Buy a domain (if you already have one, you can skip to step 2). GoDaddy, Namecheap, 1&1 and Name.com are all popular options.
b) Redirect your nameservers to the displayed Sniply nameservers
The nameservers will be generated for you and displayed in the Custom Domain popup window that will look something like this:
Here are instructions for setting up/updating your nameservers for GoDaddy, Namecheap, 1&1, Google Domains, and Porkbun. Questions? Simply contact us!

✅ Done!
You can now create snips using your own domain (snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc)
2. Using a New Domain managed by you
When you have a new domain, but you would like to manage it yourself, you will need to use Cloudflare and activate Proxy on it. Switching to Cloudflare and using the SSL proxy that Cloudflare offers will make HTTPS available for your domain.
__________________________________________________________________
Setting this one up involves the following steps:
Step 0: If you have completed the first 4 steps, please continue. If not, please complete these 4 steps first, then continue.
__________________________________________________________________
Step 1: Open an account with Cloudflare, or use an existing one if you already have it.
__________________________________________________________________
Step 2: Add your domain to the Cloudflare's DNS management and point it to 174.138.108.60.
In the example below, we have added testing.link to Cloudflare DNS and pointed it to the said IPv4.

✅ Done!
You can now create snips using your own domain (snip.ly/abc ⇾ mysite.co/abc)
3. Subdomain on your own domain
If you don't want to buy a new domain, you can also use your existing domain, but you will need to create a subdomain. For example, if your website is mysite.com, you can use Sniply with a domain like sharedby.mysite.com (Sniply links will look like sharedby.mysite.com/abcd).
__________________________________________________________________
Step 0: If you have completed the first 4 steps, please continue. If not, please complete the these 4 steps first, then continue.
__________________________________________________________________
Step 1: Set up a subdomain by adding a CNAME record for the subdomain that you would like to use (like "go", "sharedby", "link", or anything else you might need/like) that points to lb-production.sniply.site.
Please note that it needs to be a CNAME record, not an A record.
It should look something like this:
subdomain.yourdomain.com ⇾ lb-production.sniply.site
This is how the setup should look like if you are using Cloudflare, where we have the subdomain go.snip.ly pointing to lb-production.sniply.site.
Your hosting provider DNS panel might look somewhat different, from the above example, so check if you need to enter just the subdomain name or the full subdomain URL (in the spirit of the examples we used, it's go vs go.snip.ly, or subdomain vs subdomain.yourdomain.com).
Here are the instructions for GoDaddy, Namecheap, 1&1 or simply contact us.
__________________________________________________________________
Step 2: Confirm using a website check tool, such as this one, that the CNAME record for your particular subdomain points to lb-production.sniply.site.
🟥 IMPORTANT: If you're setting up only a subdomain to use with Sniply, you DO NOT have to change your DNS servers to Sniply's (alex and lily). You just need to create a CNAME record and point it to our lb-production.sniply.site server.

HTTPS Support on (sub)domains
HTTPS (secured browsing) for your custom (sub)domain will be enabled automatically. If this process does not happen automatically for you, even after 1 hour, please email us.
